Where in the Web Are You?

This is the "homepage" of Professor Jeff Sonstein on streamer, an experimental server that lives in my office at the Department of Information Technology, College of Computing and Information Sciences, Rochester Institute of Technology.

How Can You Find My Office?

My physical home at RIT is in Building 70, Room 2555. If you want to meet with me "face-to-face", you should probably check my schedule first.

How Can You Find Me Online?

I am often available online via Instant Message ( or "IM") client. If your IM client can find and connect with others via the AOL Instant Message (or "AIM") servers, then you can connect with me via my "handle" : jeffsonstein. I use iChat (which "plays nicely with" AIM) on my client machines: computers from Apple running Mac OS X. You might also want to take a look at my personal machine, ariadne

What Else Lives Here On streamer?

There is a simple web-based interface to a Readability Statistics engine which lives here and was my first PHP.

I maintain a blog on streamer, focusing on technology issues. In addition, streamer is home for my experimental work with streaming media, Java Servlets, Java Server Pages, and other service-oriented technologies. I am also experimenting with an AI chat-bot based on A.L.I.C.E., and you can talk with Susan here (if she is awake).

I am beginning to learn something about the Internet Engineering Task Force Zero Configuration Networking (zeroconf) initiative, and to experiment with a Java-based multicast-oriented implementation called JmDNS. Feel free to take a look at the materials about JmDNS at streamer.

I am working on xVRML, an XML-based update of the old VRML standard.

I am also running an experimental RSS-with-video-enclosures service DTV button here.
